Managing Rooms

Rooms can be added to Schools which related to how users, licences, and devices can be managed and assigned.

To get started, sign into the Boxlight Admin Portal at https://account.boxlight.com and follow the instructions for creating Schools if necessary.

NOTE: If you are using a supported LMS connection, your Rooms may be automatically synchronized with your LMS. If this is the case, you should continue to make changes to your Rooms list in your LMS and they will sync within 24 hours.

Adding a Room

Manual Process

To add your Rooms manually, select the School you would like to add the Room to, then click into the “Select or add a Room” field. You will see that the list is empty on first entry.

Start typing the name of the Room and when finished, click “Add”.

The Room will be added. You can repeat this process as many times as needed to add each Room.

Automated CSV Import

To add your Rooms via CSV import, click “Import .csv” and you will be prompted to upload a .csv file.

Please note that CSV lists of Rooms must be single-column only with a header of ‘Room’ or ‘Rooms’. An example created in Excel might look like this. Ensure you save out as a .csv file.

If the Rooms in the uploaded CSV file don’t yet exist in the Boxlight Admin Portal, they will all be added. In the case that a Room already exists in the system, you will be informed that not all Rooms were added.

In this example, the Room “Lecture Theatre 1” was added manually, so only 4 additional Rooms wil be added.

Editing or Removing Rooms

After creating or importing Rooms, their names can be edited.

To edit a Room, first search for or select the Room from the list. Then click the “Edit” icon on the right hand side.

After making your change, click Update.

Or alternatively if you wish to remove the Room, press Delete and a confirmation window will appear.

Warning! Deleting a Room will result in the removal of all rooms associated with users, licenses, and linked devices – please proceed with caution.
