Importing a Class
MyClass supports CSV (comma separated values) files when importing a class.
The CSV file you import requires columns for the student’s first name, last name, and email address. An ID number is optional and for your reference only.
Attempting to import a file without these details will not allow the import process to complete.
- To begin, navigate to the “Classes” tab inside MyClass
- Select “Make a New Class” as shown below in red.
- At the top left, give your class a name.
- At the top right, select “Import Students”
- Browse for and select your CSV file with your student information.
- You can tell MyClass which field aligns to the required data by dragging and dropping from left to right. For example, MyClass requires the field for “Email Address”. In your imported file, you may have a column with the heading “Student Email” so in this case, drag the “Student Email” CSV field over to the right into the “Email Address” field. Repeat for all required fields. Your file may have additional data, but this is not required.
- Click Done when finished.
- Your class will now be populated with your imported students. You can also add any students manually if required.
- Click “Save Class”.
Your class is now ready to be used in MyClass. Your students will now receive an email asking them to confirm joining your class. If they do not yet have a MyClass account, they will be prompted to enter a password upon clicking the “Join” link in the email.
